Mother Nature moved the Saints' first practice indoors but it didn't stop Drew Brees from stealing the show.
Brees' first organized practice with his teammates since last season looked just like he never left. Brees was sharp, precise and just looked like he was having fun again. Basically he was Drew Brees.
All those worried if Brees needed some time to shake off the rust should stop worrying. #9 is just fine.
Play of the Day
Ironically it was on one of Brees' few bad throws. Luckily Lance Moore bailed him out when he went up and made a juggling catch over Malcolm Jenkins, who looked like he could've had an interception.
Sound Bite of the Day
There were several candidates, but I have to go with Brees and his sarcastic banter with a reporter who suggested, jokingly, that he was rusty.
"Clearly you were rusty," the reporter said.
"Clearly you didn't watch practice," Brees said after a long pause and a grin.
Other Notes:
- Scott Shanle, Sedrick Ellis and Roman Harper all came in late after testifying on Jonathan Vilma's behalf at federal court.
- Shanle was with the first team linebackers group.
- Joe Morgan made nice grab on a deep sideline route from Chase Daniel.
- An unknown player that caught my eye was WR Chris Givens.
