Hubig's Pie has long history in New Orleans

The iconic Hubig's Pie opened it's New Orleans bakery in 1922 in its current location at 2417 Dauphine street in the Faubourg Marigny by Baker Simon Hubig.

According to the company's website, Hubig started the company in Ft. Worth, Texas at the start of World War I and the New Orleans bakery was one of several plants in the southeast.

For the past 90 years, Hubig's Pies have been baked daily at the Marigny location. Anyone who has had a Hubig's Pie recognizes it's company logo which has donned the packaging for decades and his name is "Savory Simon."

During the depression, Hubig's Pie chain suffered greatly and when it was over only the New Orleans location remained. The company is owned and operated by a second generation of the Bowman and Ramsey families.

The families say they will rebuild after fire destroyed the building and vow to keep baking the historic Hubig's Pies for generations to come.
