Lafayette, La. - The man charged with killing two women, including missing Lafayette college student Mickey Shunick, pleaded not guilty to first degree murder Friday.

Because of security concerns, a judge decided to meet Brandon Lavergne in a courtroom attached to the jail Friday morning, instead of the state courthouse.

Earlier this month, a grand jury indicted Lavergne in the murder of Shunick, who disappeared May 19.  Her body has not been found.

Lavergne is also charged with killing Lisa Pate.  Her remains were found 13 years ago in Acadia Parish.
