Miami, Fl.- A quiet period in the tropics should continue over the next 48 hours, the normal forecasting period, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The official advisory sees "no areas of disturbed weather across the Atlantic basin that have any potential for tropical cyclone development through the weekend."
The 2012 names seemed to roar out of the gate: Alberto, Beryl, Chris and Debbie.
The "D" storm had already formed by Saturday, June 24, which is the earliest date on record.
At the time, meteorologists cautioned that the early start to the season was not necessarily indicative of what would happen in coming weeks.
