LSU medical students to get symbolic coats

Updated:

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The LSU Health Sciences Center School of Medicine will hold its annual white coat ceremony on Saturday at the Holy Cross High School Student Center.

This year, 188 second-year medical students will receive a white coat, a traditional symbol of patient care. During the ceremony, students are "coated" by faculty members chosen by the class for their commitment to medical education and their students.

The ceremonies are set for 3 p.m.
