Huntsville, Ala.- NASA extends and expands a partnership with Louisiana.
NASA and Louisiana leaders agreed to a five year extension of their partnership in the National Center For Advanced Manufacturing (NCAM.)
The partnership between the space agency and academic institutions supports research and development in aerospace manufacturing.
For the first time, this NCAM agreement brings LSU's technology, engineering and research resources in the partnership while continuing to rely on UNO's expertise and experience with the Michoud program.
"This new partnership will help us achieve our objective of attracting thousands of advanced manufacturing jobs to Michoud while leveraging Michoud's assets to support related research endeavors at LSU and UNO,"says Stephen Moret, Louisiana Economic Development Secretary.
State officials say about 400 of the 2600 employees at the multi-tenant Michoud facility are associated with and benefit from NCAM.
