Slidell man gets 5 years in child porn case

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - A 21-year-old Slidell man has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to crimes involving the sexual exploitation of children.

U.S. Attorney Jim Letten's office says Quentin Kittel admitted meeting a 16-year-old girl and a 12-year-old girl and began encouraging them to take sexually explicit pictures of themselves and send them to him via text messages. In his requests, court documents show he described in detail how he wanted them to pose and what he wanted them to do in the photos.

Once his sentence is completed, Kittel must serve eight years of supervised release and register as a sex offender.

Letten says the case was brought as part of the Justice Department's Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
