Lafourche Parish, La.- Police say 29-year-old Shantelle Hancock was killed in a three vehicle crash on LA 308 Saturday morning.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m.
Investigators say a 46-year-old Brian Gros of Lockport was traveling south on LA 308 just south of Valentine in a 2006 Volvo semi-tractor when he came around a curve noticing a 2006 International semi-tractor slowing to a stop for traffic.
The International semi-tractor was being driven by 50-year-old Mitchell Brown of Lafayette.
Gros steered to the left and enter the northbound lane of LA 308 to avoid hitting the International semi-tractor.
The Volvo then struck a 2011 Mitsubishi Lancer head-on, killing 29-year-old Shantelle Hancock of Cutt Off.
Hancock was pronounced dead on scene by the Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office. She was not wearing a seatbelt.
Gros, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries and was transported to Thibodaux Regional Medical Center.
Brown, who was wearing a seat belt, was not injured in the crash.
Investigators say alcohol use is not suspected to be a factor in the crash at this time. Blood was taken from Gros and the test results will be pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab. Routine toxicology tests are pending at the Lafourche Parish Coroner's Office for Hancock. Brown submitted to a breath test and was cleared of any alcohol involvement.
