New Orleans, LA - FOX 8 Sports confirms an earlier report that suspended Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma could have his suspension reduced from a full season to just eight games.

The NFL has offered to reduce Vilma's suspension if he agrees to drop a civil lawsuit against NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell.

The news comes less than a week before Friday's scheduled appearance before U.S. District Judge Ginger Berrigan.

The negotiations between the two sides will continue this week.
