Fraternal Order of Police intervenes in consent decree

Updated:
New Orleans, La. -

The Fraternal Order of Police formally intervened in the litigation between the U.S. Department of Justice and the City of New Orleans.

FOP wants the right to get involved in the process before a federal judge actually signs off on the agreement, which includes widespread reforms to the department.

FOP has complained in the past that it was left out of the negotiations and that officers need more details about what will be expected of them.

Federal Judge Susie Morgan has set an August 29 hearing.
