New Orleans, La. -

An attorney for the NOPD officer who shot and killed an unarmed man during a raid on a home in Gentilly confirms there are ongoing discussions about a possible plea agreement.

Officer Joshua Colclough shot 20-year-old Wendell Allen at his mother's home while officers were serving a drug-related search warrant in March 2012.  Allen was unarmed.

NOPD did not recommend charges against the officer, leaving it up to the district attorney to charge Colclough or bring the case before a grand jury.  The latter option would have to happen in the next couple of weeks.

Colclough's attorney would not elaborate on the plea discussions under way.  And the DA's office says it can't comment on an open investigation.

Colclough is expected to be in court for a hearing on Wednesday, according to a FOX 8 source.
