Pflugerville, Tx.- A 40-year-old warehouse worker inadvertently disturbed a massive colony of Africanized bees and wound up in the hospital with 300 bee stings.

Pflugerville police say the man didn't know the bees had built their hive inside a cabinet he was trying to move.

The attack happened in an industrial area about 15 miles north of Austin.

The victim is hospitalized in stable condition.

A beekeeper called in to help remove the bees says the colony contained more than 125,000 bees and 120 pounds of honeycomb.

Three others, including a police officer, were also stung while responding to the attack.

Entomologist Wizzie Brown says the Africanized bees have become common in Texas in recent decades.
