FOX 8 Sports announces new partnership with the Times-Picayune

Fox 8 Sports is proud to announce an exciting new partnership with the Times-Picayune and Nola.com.

This football season reporters and columnists from the Times-Picayune's sports staff will lend expert analysis to Fox 8's coverage of the New Orleans Saints.

This unprecedented, exclusive local television alliance will give Saints fans the best and most comprehensive television coverage of the team.

"In the past year, Fox 8 has built the strongest television sports team in this part of the country, now with three anchors with past or present network TV experience.  As Fox 8 enters into this cooperative effort with the outstanding Times-Picayune sports team, we do so knowing that all of the talent associated with our teams, both on and off camera, will be exposed to regional network experience when Fox Sports New Orleans rolls out in October," said Fox 8 President and General Manager Joe Cook.

"It is an honor to be associated with the historic Times-Picayune in this first such multi-platform team effort in New Orleans.  Together, Fox 8 and The Times-Picayune will be in position to cover more sports for our readers, viewers and digital media followers."

The partnership will include weekly appearances on "Game Plan", "Fox 8 Live Tailgate", and "Final Play."

Fox 8 Sports will also contribute to the Times-Picayune's "Black and Gold Report."

This partnership is just the beginning of a growing relationship between Fox 8 and the Times-Picayune.

"I'm excited that the voice of our outstanding Saints coverage team will be extended through Fox 8's sports broadcasts," said Ricky Mathews, president of the NOLA Media Group, which will combine the newspaper and its website this fall.

"I'm thrilled to have such an exciting partnership," said Fox 8 News Director Mikel Schaefer.  "This is a groundbreaking move for the New Orleans market.  These reporters know the team inside and out and will bring a new dimension to our coverage."
