JP Housing Authority director resigns

Updated:

The Executive Director of the Jefferson Parish Housing Authority has resigned.

Barry Bordelon told board members he was stepping down.

Last week, the HUD Inspector General released an audit accusing the agency of making more than $600,000 of ineligible or unsupported costs.

On Wednesday, the Jefferson Parish council urged the housing authority to remove Bordelon from his position.

He stepped down from the job that paid him about $122,000 a year writing to the board that he believes with 100 percent confidence the audit recommendations will not be accepted by HUD and the housing authority and his name will be cleared.
