Baton Rouge, La. - Tyrann Mathieu is off the team, but he might not leave LSU.
ESPN reports Mathieu has expressed interest in sitting out this season, but staying in class with hopes of playing for the Tigers again in 2013.
Friday, LSU Coach Les Miles dismissed Mathieu from the team and suspended him for the season for a rules violation.
Now, sources tell ESPN there are discussions about what it would take for Mathieu to be reinstated in 2013.
Mathieu is also looking at other options. According to Mcneese coach Matt Viator, Mathieu visited the school Friday.
A transfer to a football championship sub-division school would allow him to play right away
There is also the possibility he could declare for the NFL draft after this season.
