Avondale, La. - A 62 year-old man was killed Monday night as he attempted to cross the roadway, according to Louisiana State Police.
The accident happened around 8:30pm on US 90 east at Avondale Garden Road.
Police say an investigation revealed that a 2004 GMC Envoy, driven by 36 year-old Donietha Luke of Marrero, was traveling east on US 90 in the right lane.
A pedestrian, Isaac Casmere, started to cross the roadway near Avondale Garden Road and was struck by the Envoy. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
Luke submitted to a chemical test and no detectable alcohol was found in her system. Toxicology results are pending an autopsy on Casmere.
