St. John Parish residents asked to stop water use

Updated:

Laplace, La. - As a result of a rupture in a 24 inch water line coming from the Ruddock water system, St. John the Baptist Parish Utilities Department is currently requesting that all east bank residents stop using water immediately.  The rupture has been located and repair crews are assessing the problem to determine the extent of needed repairs.  Completion time of the repair has not been determined at this time.

The Utilities Department is supplementing with water from the Lyons Water Plant to provide water pressure to LaPlace water customers; however, it is critical all residents in LaPlace, Reserve, Garyville, and Mount Airy stop using water immediately. All businesses are being asked to conserve water until further notice.

Please refrain from washing clothes and dishes, watering lawns, washing vehicles, flushing toilets, showering, cooking, and all other activities that require use of water.
