Three alarm fire in the French Quarter, under control

New Orleans, La.-- New Orleans firefighters got a three-alarm fire in the French Quarter Wednesday under control a little after 5 a.m.

The NOFD says the fire broke out around 3 a.m. in the 100 block of Iberville, one block off of Canal Street near the Riverfront in a mostly empty seven story building.  The fire didn't appear to pose a threat to any other structures because it's surrounded by parking lots.

Fire officials tell FOX 8, the fire broke out in an elevator shaft, between the second and third floors, and the cause appears to be electrical.  No injuries were reported.

At one point, the building at 111 Iberville housed the Victoria Station Steak House and the offices of casino developer Chris Hemmeter.
