New Orleans, La. -

The city hosted the second of five community meetings to discuss the allocation of funds in the 2013 budget.

Wednesday night's meeting was held at the Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church in New Orleans East.  Hundreds of people attended the District E meeting and dozens took advantage of the opportunity to speak before city leaders for two minutes.

The most common concern was blight.  Residents say they feel like their district hasn't been given a fair chance to recover from Hurricane Katrina. They say the blighted businesses and bad streets make their district look like a war zone.

Residents also expressed concerns about funding for senior citizen centers, police and fire protection, and street light repairs.

The next community budget meeting is set for Monday, August 20, at the YMCA Federal City in Algiers.  The meeting will start at 6:00 p.m.
