New Orleans, La. – The search is on for an inmate who escaped from the Orleans Parish Temporary Housing Center Wednesday night.
The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office believes Larry Ard cut the tent between 11:00 p.m. and midnight and escaped. And deputies suspect the 53-year-old man injured himself while scaling the armed razor wire fence into a construction site.
They describe him as an African-American male, standing 5-feet-11. We have asked sheriff's representatives for a photo of Ard, and are awaiting their response.
Deputies say Ard was present and accounted for during the Wednesday evening roll call. Deputies discovered he was missing during a security check around 12:30 a.m.
Ard is in jail for purse snatching and a parole violation.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts should call the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office at 504-827-8505.
