Threat made against Covington High School

Covington, La. - A Crimestoppers tip was received Friday morning by St. Tammany School System Administrators that made reference to a threat of violence at Covington High School.

School System officials are currently working with local law enforcement to investigate the threat.

A text message was sent to parents regarding the incident.

At this time, there is additional security and support staff on hand at Covington High School.

A spokesperson for St. Tammany Parish Schools says if a student does not report to school today, it will be an excused absence. 

Parents who have questions or concerns can call Covington High at 892-3422 or Central Office at 892-2276.
