Marrero woman arrested for robbing a bank

Updated:

Harvey, LA - Jefferson Parish Sheriff's deputies have arrested a Marrero woman for robbing a bank. The incident occurred Tuesday at 3:42 p.m. at a Capital One Bank in the 4600 block of West Bank Expressway in Marrero. The woman has been identified as 47-year-old Jacqueline Mitchell.

Police say that Mitchell entered the bank on Tuesday and handed one of the tellers a note that read "give me the money or I will kill you today." The teller handed the money to Mitchell who exited the bank. The bank notified JPSO deputies and provided them with a description of a black woman with something on her head, wearing a green plaid shirt, blue jeans and carrying a bag of cash.

Responding officers located and stopped a woman fitting that description five minutes after the robbery. The teller was brought to the scene where she identified Mitchell as the woman who committed the robbery.

Mitchell confessed to the crime during questioning. She was booked in the Jefferson Parish Corrections Center for simple robbery of a bank.
