New Orleans, La. -- While no city has been more impacted by hurricanes than New Orleans, most people in south Louisiana have never experienced the wind power of a major hurricane.
Katrina came ashore in Plaquemines Parish as a Category Three, but the winds in New Orleans made it seem more like a Category Two from the standpoint of winds.
In fact, unless you live in Plaquemines, or the extreme eastern parts of St. Bernard and St. Tammany, you have not experienced the wind power of a major hurricane.
