Officials with the St. Tammany Public School Board have sent the following press release to FOX 8 News:
St. Tammany Parish Public Schools and Offices will close on Tuesday, August 28, to allow families to deal with the threat of Tropical Storm/Hurricane Isaac. "We want to make certain our employees, students, and their families have the time needed to prepare for this storm," said Superintendent W.L. "Trey" Folse, III.
School administrators and teams of custodians have been securing school and office sites to prepare for the threat of high winds and possible rain. Since the track of the storm is not clear yet, St. Tammany Parish Public School leaders will not make decisions about reopening schools and offices until after the storm has passed. Parents and employees should monitor the School System website, www.stpsb.org, Channel 13, St. Tammany Parish Public Schools on Facebook and STPPSchools on Twitter for updates.
