Sheriff Craig Webre reports that
as of 6 AM this morning, the Lafourche Parish curfew has been lifted for the
northern part of the parish to include all areas between Thibodaux and the Bellevue
Bridge in Lockport. Power has been partially restored in this area and the
roads cleared significantly so to allow for an easy flow of traffic.
Areas south of the Bellevue
Bridge will remain under curfew as Louisiana Highway One and Highway 308 South
are impassable due to debris along the roadways. Power poles and lines
suffered heavy destruction in the lower portions of Lafourche and efforts
continue to clear roadways and restore power.
Understandably this is a trying
time for everyone however public safety is our primary concern and deputies
will continue to enforce the curfew from the Bellevue Bridge through the
southern portions of the parish said Sheriff Webre. Residents have been
cooperating with deputies who are vigilantly stopping and questioning motorists
on the highways. Thus far, only four curfew violations have been issued
since the onset of the parish wide curfew.
