Lafourche Parish, La. --  Authorities say they have stabilized a levee where waters from Hurricane Isaac appeared to be overtopping late Thursday night.

The levee lies between Lac des Allemands and LA 307 at Bayou Boeuf, roughly 20 miles by road from Thibodaux.

Lafourche Sheriff Craig Webre tells FOX 8 News that the levee has not been breeched but is being overtopped at a couple of low spots.  He says crews have been working over several hours to fill gaps on the levee.

Early Friday morning, Sheriff Webre said the situation appeared to be stable but that authorities would continue to monitor the levee for more signs of strain.
