Tulane University posted the following statement on their web site Thursday:
NEW ORLEANS - While the effects of Hurricane Isaac are still visible around the city of New Orleans and the Tulane University campus, a new era of Tulane football will start on Saturday, September 1 when the Green Wave take to the field at 7:00 p.m. against Rutgers in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Tulane athletic department has announced a ticket promotion with $5.00 adult tickets and $3.00 children's tickets.
Head coach Curtis Johnson will be making his head coaching debut for the Green Wave and invites all New Orleanians to the Mercedes-Benz Superdome for the 7:00 p.m. kickoff versus the Scarlet Knights. The first 5,000 fans through the gates will receive a free rally towel and coach Johnson has vowed to `pay for the first couple hundred fans that can't make it to the bank'. Also, all first responders will be admitted free of charge.
Everyone is also invited to the pregame festivities that will be held in Champion Square starting at 3:00 on Saturday afternoon. The pregame party will feature live music, starting at 5:00, and you can help welcome the team as they make the walk from their hotel into Superdome at 4:40.
For our Coaches Corner members, the Bud Light Tent inside Champion Square will open at 5:30, but the Westfeldt Club will be closed. All Westfeldt Club members are invited to come out early and partake in the festivities at Champion Square, as well.
A shuttle will begin running at 4:30 from Bruff Commons on the Uptown campus to take any students to the Superdome.
