FOX 8 News received this news release from the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board Friday:
New Orleans - The Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board approved a marketing partnership with the New Orleans Saints in a special board meeting held today at the board's offices in New Orleans.
The proposal for the 2012 season will make Louisiana Seafood the official seafood for the New Orleans Saints and the Superdome. This agreement also includes LED board announcements and signage throughout the Superdome. In addition the board will be allowed to feature guest chefs in the broadcast booth allowing visiting national media to experience Louisiana seafood first hand.
"This is an incredible opportunity for Louisiana seafood to be aligned with one of the top football teams in the Nation," said Harlon Pearce, chairman of the Louisiana Seafood Promotion and Marketing Board. "We look forward to a great season of Saints and Seafood."
The total cost of the proposal is $842, 515 and will be paid for out of the marketing dollars given to the board by BP to help the Louisiana Seafood industry regain lost market share following the Gulf Oil Spill in 2010.
