Slidell, La. - Slidell Police arrested a 42-year-old man and confiscated drugs and money after following up on numerous tips. Narcotic Officers with the Slidell Police Department executed a search warrant on a house located at 312 Robin Lane Wednesday night. During the search Officers located a large amount of drugs and money.
Police Chief Randy Smith says the raid followed a month-long investigation that began after his office received several phone calls on Slidell's Narcotic Tips Hot Line about possible drug activity at that location. Chief Smith also says he was sent an anonymous letter.
After obtaining a search warrant, narcotics investigators converged on the house and began their search. Inside they discovered approximately two pounds of marijuana, a scale and bags used to package the marijuana and over $2,600 in cash. Cedric Square, the only person at home at the time, was arrested without incident. Square has been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to distribute a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance and distribution of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance.
"I want to thank the citizens that called and the one that sent the letter, it is important to remember that fighting crime is a community effort," said Chief Smith.
