Vietnamese group sets up distribution site

New Orleans, La. - The group VIET, Vietnamese Initiative in Economic Training, partnered with the Greater New Orleans Foundation to distribute a domestically grown rice and other supplies to victims affected by Hurricane Isaac.

VIET will also give away supplies from the Red Cross.

Rice is an essential for many Asian families. "Jazzmen Rice is grateful to be part of this relief project on the community," said George Chin, co-owner of Jazzmen Rice, LLC.

Martha Landrum with the Greater New Orleans Foundation said, "in rapid response, they are addressing the most pressing needs of the Vietnamese families."

The distribution site will be available on Friday, September 14 from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. at the Vietnamese Senior Center, 2330 Park Place in Gretna.
