Teacher finds gun in Harvey student's book bag

Jefferson Parish, La. -- Deputies say a student brought a gun to a Harvey school.

Deputies say a teacher noticed the handgun in a student's book bag at Knights Academy High School on Bonn Street last Friday. They say another teacher identified the student who owned the bag and he was taken to the Jefferson Parish Investigations Bureau.

Deputies say the teen wasn't arrested, based on the fact that the gun was found in an unattended book bag.

The student's attorney told the teen not to make a statement. Deputies are still investigating the incident.
