FOX - The nation's biggest doctors group urges parents to keep their kids off trampolines, both at home and on the playground.

The American Academy of Pediatrics updated their guidelines on trampoline use.  Their original statement in 1999 resulted in manufacturers adding safety features to the product.

Now, the doctors group says emergency departments see close to 100,000 trampoline-related injuries a year.  And roughly one in 200 of these injuries lead to permanent neurologic damages.

The group notes there has been a decrease in injuries in recent years, but that might have more to do with the fact that the number of trampolines in use has also decreased.

Their statement was published online in the journal "Pediatrics."
