BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - A 21-year-old woman, who was five months pregnant, died Tuesday after she was shot multiple times. Baton Rouge Police say the woman's unborn child is also dead.
Shylah Hicks was shot around noon outside her north Baton Rouge home. She was pronounced dead at an area hospital, where she was transported for treatment.
Police Cpl. L'Jean Mckneely Jr. said the woman's boyfriend, 33-year-old Adam Sterling, was booked into the parish prison on a charge of second-degree murder, first-degree feticide, illegal use of a weapon and convicted felon in possession of a weapon.
McKneely said investigators believe the shooting was believed to have stemmed from a domestic issue.
