LA SPCA benefits from New Orleans on Tap event

The following is a news release from the Louisiana SPCA:

New Orleans, La. - The Bulldog and the Louisiana SPCA (LA/SPCA) present the third annual New Orleans on Tap, a free beer festival and fundraiser showcasing over 200 varieties of beer. Sponsored by Abita Brewing Company, this year's event will take place from 1-6 p.m. on Saturday, September 29 by the Boathouse at the Big Lake in City Park.

Brews are represented from local, national, and international breweries and a dozen home brews will also be available. Tastings of each beer will be available in two sizes, samples start at $1 and large beers start at $3. Several of the breweries that will be on hand are Abita, Sam Adams, Blue Moon, Gnarly Barley, NOLA, Unibroue, Lazy Magnolia, and Brooklyn among others. There will be plenty of shade, food and non-beer drinks including sodas, wine and margaritas. Friendly dogs on leashes are welcome and taking public transportation is encouraged.

Live music kicks off at 1:20 p.m. with a performance by the New Orleans Nightcrawlers. Billy Iuso and the Restless Natives will keep things rocking with a show at 4:00 p.m. New Orleans delicacies like jambalaya and cochon de lait po boys will be available for cash purchase as well as traditional festival fare like hamburgers and hotdogs. Food will be provided by several vendors including but not limited to Velvet Cactus, Dat Dog, Crescent Pie & Sausage Company, and Crepes a la Cart.

Festival attendees at this year's event will have the chance to take home a piece of the parade and a sampling of New Orleans history as Tie-Dye Dog, a Mardi Gras Bead Dog® from the Paws on Parade public art project will be raffled off.

Discounted tickets are currently available for purchase online at la-spca.org/neworleansontap until 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 28. Tickets can also be purchased at 1pm on the day of the event at City Park. Cash or credit accepted. Around the World passes, which include 30 drink tickets and an event t-shirt, will be sold for $35 at The Bulldog Mid City, The Bulldog Uptown, The Velvet Cactus and Lager's Ale House starting Monday, September 24. An interactive Around the World Pass will encourage attendees to try exciting beer offerings from around the world.
