New Orleans, La. -- Police questioned a woman they believe is the mother of an abandoned toddler.

A good Samaritan called police around noon Tuesday, after noticing the little boy playing alone in Washington Square park.

The Department of Children and Family Services took the boy and had him checked out by doctors, who said he was healthy and appeared to be around two years old.

Authorities only heard him say mama and grandma.  With so little to go on, the NOPD made a public appeal Wednesday evening, asking for help in tracking down parents or a guardian.

About three hours later, NOPD announced that investigators had located a woman they believe is the little boy's mother.  She was seen being escorted into NOPD headquarters, in handcuffs, though authorities have yet to report whether she will be charged with a crime.
