Central City murder suspect arrested

New Orleans, La. - A 17-year-old boy has been picked up for a homicide in Central City.

Investigators think Glenn Metz, IV shot Jamal Christian to death.  Christian's body was found September 25, hidden in bushes outside Mahalia Jackson Elementary School.

Investigators would like to find who they're calling a "Person of Interest" in this case.  His name is Lashawn Wells.

FOX 8 News received this press release from NOPD Thursday evening:

(September 27, 2012) Today the United States Marshal's Task Force arrested a teenager believed to be the triggerman in the death 18-year-old Jamal Christian, whose body was found Monday in shrubbery near a school in Central City.

17-year-old Glenn Metz, IV is accused of gunning down Christian near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and North Robertson Street on Sunday, September 23rd, around 6:15pm during a second line parade.

Residents in the area provided information to Detective Barret Morton which led him to identify Metz as the shooter. Through further questioning, Detective Morton also identified 18-year-old Lashawn Wells as a "person of interest". Morton believes Wells may have pertinent information regarding the shooting.

At around 7 this morning, a United States Marshal's Task Force apprehended Metz without incident at a residence in the 70500 block of First Street in Covington. Metz will be transported to Orleans Parish Lock-Up where he will be charged with Second Degree Murder. Lashawn Wells remains at large.

Metz has been previously arrested for illegal Carrying of a Firearm in Certain Crimes and Drug Law Violation.

Wells has previous arrests for Business Burglary, Shoplifting, Extortion and Aggravated Assault.
