New Orleans Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle accident that happened on Interstate 10 westbound just past the Canal Street exit.
Police say the accident happened around 4:15 a.m.
The driver of a motorcycle was with a group of other motorcycle riders coming from the French Quarter, police said. The driver hit the left guard rail going and was ejected from the bike. He went over the elevated portion of the interstate, landing on Claiborne Avenue.
Police say the group of motorcycles the victim was with kept driving. It is unclear whether they knew he crashed.
Police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
