BATON ROUGE, LA. (AP) - State police are investigating a hit-and-run crash on La. Highway 327 that left a 56-year-old Baton Rouge woman dead.
The accident happened shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday.
Troopers say Barbara Jacob was riding her bicycle southbound when she was hit from behind by a car that left the scene.
A short time later, Jacob's body was hit by another vehicle. The driver stopped and contacted police. Jacob was pronounced dead by the East Baton Rouge Parish coroner.
Along with sheriff's deputies, troopers located 49-year-old Darby Griffin of Baton Rouge, the driver of the first car that hit Jacob.
Griffin was booked with DWI, hit-and-run, obstruction of justice, driving under suspension and no seat belt.
Further charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
