Payton, Loomis, Vitt may attend Saints game

Updated:

New Orleans, La. - Sunday's Saints game against the Chargers will have three special visitors: Drew Brees has requested permission to have Sean Payton, Mickey Loomis and Joe Vitt all attend.

A league source confirms the NFL has agreed to allow all three men to attend the game to cheer on Brees as he tries to set a new NFL record for most consecutive games with a touchdown pass.

They are not allowed to have contact with the team. They must attend as a fans and guests of Brees only.

The league gave former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams a similar reprieve to attend a Rams game as a spectator last week.

The league has not established whether Payton, Loomis and Vitt can sit together or must be separated for the game.

Brees is trying to break Johnny Unitas' long-standing record of 47 consecutive games with a touchdown pass.
