St. Bernard Parish, La. - St. Bernard deputies seized a half-pound of meth worth $32,000 from the scene of the parish's first murder of the year in Chalmette.
Sheriff Jimmy Pohlmann said deputies recovered the drugs Friday. The seizure comes three days after investigators say 17-year-old Jorge Ramirez shot and killed Leandro de la Cruz while he was sleeping in the 8500 block of Regiment Drive.
Deputies say Ramirez also attacked de la Cruz's brother Martin, who was able to run out of the house and call for help Tuesday morning.
Deputies say they recovered ten pounds of meth worth $500,000 and $32,000 in cash from the scene that day.
Ramirez is currently being held on a $1.5 million bond in the St. Bernard Parish Prison.
