New Orleans, La. - People commissioned to study the criminal justice system in New Orleans think the system needs to make a lot of improvements.

Better coordination and accountability throughout the system are just two things researchers with Public Financial Management Group think would help.

The City of New Orleans commissioned the group to evaluate the system.

"This is good information to have as we and our partners continue our historic efforts to reform and improve all aspects of the New Orleans Criminal Justice System.  It will be particularly helpful to our administration and the City Council as we move through the budget process these next few months," said Deputy Mayor and Chief Administrative Officer Andy Kopplin.
