Firefighters saved two children from a house fire in the Behrman area of Algiers Saturday night.
FOX 8 News received this statement from the New Orleans Fire Department early Sunday morning:
New Orleans, LA. – Saturday at 9:45 p.m. the New Orleans Fire Department received a 911 call reporting a fire in two-story brick dwelling 3008 Americus Street. First arriving companies received reports of possible people trapped and began a search and found a child approximately 6 to 8 years old in the bathroom, unresponsive and not breathing; another child was found in a bedroom closet by another crew, approximately 6 to 8 years old not breathing. Fire fighters administered CPR and were able to revive both children on the scene. The children were transported to the hospital by EMS. The fire was quickly extinguished and contained to the kitchen and family room. There are no other reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
