New Orleans, La. - The mother of two little girls who had to be rescued from a burning home is under arrest for neglect.
The fire broke out Saturday night in the 3000 block of Americus street in Algiers.
Firefighters found one of the six year old twins in a closet and the other in a bathroom. Both were unresponsive.
The girls remain in the hospital being treated for smoke inhalation.
The NOPD child abuse unit is working with state child protection officials on the case.
Police say the little girls had been left alone while their mother went to work.
They booked the twins' mother, Monrovia Brown, with two counts of neglect in the form of contributing to the delinquency of a child.
