Locals overwhelm Hollywood South workshop application process

Updated:

New Orleans, La. - The number of locals jumping at a shot to break into the movie business has Hollywood South considering ways to get more people trained.

According to our partners at CityBusiness, nearly 200 people applied to participate in a workshop designed to get locals trained to work on movie sets.

There were only 30 openings for the workshop.

The New Orleans Video Access Center joined forces with Mayor Landrieu's Office of Cultural Economy to bring the Los Angeles-based Quixote Studio PA Bootcamp program to New Orleans.

The mayor's office subsidized the workshop to make it more accessible to locals.

The program normally costs $250 per student.

Workshop coordinators say they're considering bringing the workshop back to New Orleans, depending on future financial backing from the city.
