New Orleans, La. - A man accused of cutting off his police issued ankle monitoring bracelet is back in custody.

The Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office says the electronic monitoring unit received an alert Wednesday evening that 24-year-old Henry Brooks violated his house arrest restrictions.

Investigators say he removed his ankle bracelet.

After searching for Brooks overnight and working with the family, Brooks surrendered Thursday morning.

The judge overseeing the case ordered Brooks to Orleans Parish Prison.

Brooks had been ordered to wear the device after he was charged with illegal carrying of a weapon while in possession of a controlled substance.
