FOX 8 News received this press release from Nucor Friday afternoon:
CONVENT, La. — Nucor Steel Louisiana LLC, a direct reduced iron producer, will be accepting interest from qualified candidates to continue filling the 150 Phase 1 positions at its new facility in Convent. The online willingness questionnaire will be available from Oct. 22 through Nov. 2. Information on the online willingness questionnaire may be found at the website, www.nucorjobslouisiana.com.
Nucor is working with LED FastStart™ – the top-ranked, state workforce development program in the nation – to support the questionnaire and develop and facilitate training.
The questionnaire will identify workers who are interested in entry-level hourly production positions. Production operators will have the opportunity to earn an average of $75,000 per year, which includes a pay-for-performance bonus that rewards teammates for their hard work. Nucor's unique pay-for-performance system allows Nucor to pay industry-leading salaries and avoid layoffs that have become common for some iron and steel producers. All openings are full-time positions that will be assigned to work rotating shifts. Applicants will be required to pass a drug screening.
