N.O.P.D. officer injured in accident


New Orleans, La.  – An N.O.P.D. officer is injured in an accident with an SUV while riding a police motorcycle. 

Police say the accident happened Saturday around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection Tchoupitoulas and Lyons St. The officer was transported to the hospital with a broken ankle, a knee injury and abrasions.

According to a press release from the NOPD, the officer was traveling East on Tchoupitoulas with lights and siren activated. The officer attempted to pass the SUV as it made a left turn onto Lyons. The officer's motorcycle and the SUV collided.  

The driver of the vehicle was not injured. No citations were issued and the facts of the case will be sent to the DA office for review.
