New Orleans, LA -- While the New Orleans Saints took on the Tampa Bay Bucs, Saints Head Coach Sean Payton was closely watching the game and taking notes, back here at home.
Coach Payton held a fundraiser for his Play it Forward foundation, which gave fans a chance, up close and personal when the score got very close.
No matter where the Saints play, they always keep the "Who Dat Nation" on the edge of the seats.
What better way for fans to watch the game than with Coach Payton.
"I think a lot of people during this suspension ask me how are you, what do you do during the games and it's an opportunity for them to see me and I'm kind of like the fan," says Payton.
Payton's "Play it Forward" Foundation held a fundraiser Sunday at Manning's restaurant in downtown New Orleans.
Typically, the foundation hosts an annual gala, but this year for $1,000, fans got the opportunity to watch the game with the coach.
"Since we started three and half years ago, we've been able to raise over $2,000,000 close to $3,000,000 for this foundation, for New Orleans, for Louisiana for the Gulf South," says Payton.
It truly was an up close and personal experience even for Payton's friend and country music singer Sammy Kershaw.
"Well it's always exciting to be with an old friend know it hurts his heart to not be able to be on the field with his team and it is his team," says Kershaw.
A game that keeps the "Who Dat Nation" in suspense til the clock runs out.
