Woman carjacked at Gentilly drugstore

Gentilly, La. - A woman was carjacked Tuesday night as she sat in her car in the parking lot of a drugstore in the 3200 block of Gentilly Blvd, police say.

Authorities say around 8:30pm, an African-American male dressed in all-black clothing approached the woman and demanded her keys, purse and vehicle. He threatened to shoot her if she didn't comply.

The victim complied and the perpetrator fled in the victim's vehicle.  The vehicle was spotted by a patrol unit near the corner of S. Hennessy Street and Canal Street.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver refused and crashed near the corner of S. Hennessey Street and City Park Avenue.

The driver fled on foot.
