New Orleans, La. - The NOPD arrested a 15-year-old suspected gunman just hours after he committed three armed robberies in the French Quarter Tuesday night.
Police say the first armed robbery occurred in the 1100 block of Royal Street when two victims were approached by the suspect. He produced a handgun and demanded the victims' cell phones. One of the victims complied and then the suspect took off.
A few minutes later, the same suspect approached two more people walking in the 600 block of Frenchmen Street and demanded their property. They handed it over and the suspect then fled the area.
Soon after that robbery, an person sitting on the front steps of a home in the 2100 block of N. Rampart was approached by the same suspect who again produced a gun and demanded the victim's cell phone. After the victim complied, the suspect again took off.
Eighth District Detectives tracked the stolen iPhones to the 5300 block of Urquhart Street, which is where they located and arrested the teenager.
Officers recovered the handgun believed to have been used in the robberies. When it was entered into the system, it was learned that the gun had been reported stolen from Slidell.
